Main Projects
Welcome to the ECCA Foundation, where art and culture collide! Our mission is to inspire creativity and innovation in our community through engaging cultural experiences. Explore on this page our departments, projects, workshops, and more, designed to help promote creativity and artistic expression.
Lifestory: identity tool
Lifestory is dedicated to empowering people to make sense of their lives in a creative and meaningful way. Through our engaging projects, we explore the ways in which identity is formed and how our experiences shape our understanding of who we are. We do this by focussing on what identity is, who your role models are, how to make your own hero and by playing educative card games. Discover how our projects can help you gain insight into your life story and learn how to craft a meaningful narrative.
Finished projects
A SQUARE FULL OF MONDRIAAN MOSAIC
From 2012 to the present, our subsidiary Buurt Canvas is busy transforming the Da Vinci Square in Haarlem into a true work of art. Our artist Hasan Sahin works closely with the local population and neighborhood committee of Schalkwijk to improve the neighborhood. For more information visit: www.buurtcanvas.com
MOSAIC WALL CENTRUM LAAKHAVENS
The garden of Centrum Laakhavens in The Hague has been transformed into a true color spectacle by artist Hasan Sahin and the local residents. By mosaicing the long wall, Laakhavens has become much more liveable. We are honored that the Mayor of The Hague, Jan van Zanen, has visited us. Now a neighborhood cafe!!!
MOERWIJK, MIJN WIJK!
Moerwijk, My Neighborhood! is a story project organized by Buurt Canvas and Fruitig en Fris. By interviewing hundreds of people on the street, giving thematic workshops and handing out all kinds of creative writing assignments, we were able to collect stories from local residents in Moerwijk. We have transformed these stories into 100 banners that we hung in Moerwijk. In the end, a very beautiful art route was created that people use every day. The photo shows 'The man of 10,000 Films' who lives in Moerwijk.
RUSTENBURG-OOSTBROEK STORY PROJECT
Rustenburg-Oostbroek Story Project is a story project organized by Buurt Canvas, ECCA Foundation and Stichting Wijkz. By interviewing dozens of people on the street and giving artistic workshops, we were able to collect stories from local residents in Rustenburg-Oostbroek. We have transformed these stories into 30 banners that we will hang in the Gooilaan so that the residents can read each other's stories.
FUTURE PROJECTS
ELDERLY ART ACADEMY
Our subsidiary, Buurt Canvas, will start providing art classes for the elderly. Buurt Canvas will organize tailor-made art lessons for the elderly who no longer have the motor skills to participate in normal art practice.
PUBLICATION OF LATEST FINDINGS
ECCA Foundation and Buurt Canvas are going to set up a web store together to sell various art objects. It will also be possible to borrow art objects. In this way we want to ensure that donations grow so that our regular activities can continue. The art objects will be made by our students of mosaic and painting courses.
SCULPTURE STUDIO
With its Mik Mak project, ECCA Foundation came into contact with the very professional Lebanese sculptor Mr. Mohammed. He came to the Netherlands in 2015 because of the war in Syria. Previously, he had fled from Lebanon to Syria. In Syria, Mr. Mohammed has left behind a thriving sculpture business. In the Netherlands he has so far not been able to regroup in his own field. ECCA Foundation plans to arrange a room and the necessary materials so that Mr. Mohamed can once again demonstrate his worth.
